In this class we will spend six weeks immersed in the nature that surrounded and inspired the lives of Jane Austen, Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte, and Beatrix Potter. We will discover how deeply nature influenced them as persons and as writers. We will use these discoveries to guide our own nature exploration and nature journaling.
Each week also includes a “tea time” video for discussing either the author’s works, or the literary influences on their life and work. Recipes are included as well as painting tutorials so you can paint the food and teacups into your journal.
You will receive six weeks of links to video instruction about the life of Jane Austen, the Brontes, and Beatrix Potter. You will also receive technique videos to guide you in your drawing and watercolor journaling. Handouts will be sent by pdf along with a list of suggested nature journaling prompts and techniques to try.
You will have the option to attend a weekly one-hour zoom discussion and Q&A time for sharing what you are creating and asking any questions. Access to a private Facebook group for sharing with others online will also be made available.
This class is designed to take you anywhere from 2-4 hours or more each week, depending on how much time you are able to set aside for nature journaling and nature exploration.
Art materials are not included and must be purchased separately. You can find the recommended supply list here.
Videos and handouts will be sent out on the following Friday mornings: July 16, 23, 30 August 6, 13, 20.

“I used this course as a homeschool lesson for my 16 year old daughter. She loves “Miss Heather” and leaned a lot about the authors and painting. I highly recommend these courses!”
“This course was designed with intention. . . it is an individualized experience where participants do not have to do EVERYTHING, rather you can do what you like and leave the rest for another time. The videos each week were a real highlight and the nature walk prompts were some of my favorite. Heather is a lovely and knowledgeable instructor that has created something special. I think that anyone who has an appreciation for nature and a curious mind would love this class, I know I did! – Jen Funk (not an artist :)”

“This is the most fun I’ve had taking a class and the work and care Heather has put into this class shows”
